Cost Accounting Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate precise and timely financial reports in line with our established timeline, collaborating with the Accounting Team.
  • Manage full cycle accounting: utilize generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to assess financial data and produce both external and internal management financial statements.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including general journal entries, accruals, account analysis, and reconciliations.
  • Handle the cost accounting responsibilities, which include cycle count audits, standard cost roll processes, and the preparation and evaluation of inventory reserves and variances.
  • Prepare flash reports along with quarterly profit and loss statements and balance sheet forecasts, as well as annual financial plans.
  • Assist in the corporate internal audit procedures.
  • Support the Controller with various special projects as needed.
  • Engage in initiatives aimed at process enhancement.
  • Contribute to the establishment and execution of internal control guidelines and testing.
  • Play a role in the development of internal financial policies and procedures.
  • Maintain comprehensive work papers and instructions for journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Organize and review various accounting reports, providing constructive feedback to management.
  • Assist in coordinating the annual budget and ongoing forecasting.
  • Handle ad-hoc projects and reporting as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to improving processes and outcomes while ensuring accuracy and effective communication that supports compliance with all corporate and segment reporting.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Accounting or Financial Planning & Analysis.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, inventory, and cost accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of intercompany transactions, eliminations, and foreign currency transactions.
  • Experience with Hyperion, IFS, and/or SmartView is advantageous.
  • Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with all management levels and collaborate in a team setting.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with a multinational corporate structure is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and experienced with a major ERP system, with strong Excel skills required.
  • Experience dealing with multiple currencies.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Language: Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with all management levels and work collaboratively.
  • Work Skills: Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, Cost Accounting, and ERP systems, along with excellent project management, analytical, and organizational skills.
