Job Overview

We are seeking an HR Operations Specialist to support our client in managing various human resources functions.

Position Title: HR Operations Specialist

Location: Universal City, CA

Employment Type: Contract

Compensation: $30.61/hr - $34.61/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the interactive process for all reasonable accommodation and leave requests.
  • Collaborates with internal teams, including Management, Health Services, and HR Business Partners, as well as external partners like Leave Administrators.
  • Coordinates with third-party leave administrators to manage daily leave and accommodation requests for both union and non-union employees.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant leave and accommodation laws, including FMLA, CFRA, FEHA, USERRA, and ADA.
  • Works alongside HR Coordinators to track various types of leaves, including Disability and Workers' Compensation.
  • Acts as the primary contact for employee inquiries regarding leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations.
  • Educates employees on leave policies and resources, promoting self-sufficiency in navigating these processes.
  • Maintains comprehensive records of employee leave and accommodation requests through internal HR systems.
  • Submits necessary HR transactions for processing leaves of absence.
  • Partners with HR Business Partners on matters related to leave, accommodations, and attendance.
  • Utilizes HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite to enhance HR operations.
  • Engages in meaningful discussions with team members regarding their HR needs.
  • Drafts and disseminates communications throughout the leave process.
  • Mentors HR partners, including HR Coordinators.
  • Provides additional support to the HR team as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communication, or a related field is preferred; certification in Leave of Absences is a plus.
  • A minimum of 2 years of HR experience with knowledge of leave and disability principles, or 1 year of specific LOA and disability HR experience is required.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations regarding FMLA, ADA, and Workers' Compensation is essential.
  • Understanding of medical disability management is necessary.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in both union and non-union environments, particularly in retail or hospitality sectors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with SAP or other HRIS systems is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams) is preferred.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information judiciously.
  • Proven ability to drive HR processes and deliver high-quality HR services.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong prioritization, independent thinking, and problem-solving skills to ensure timely project completion.
