We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support our operations.
Position Title: Human Resources Generalist
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Contract
Compensation: $34.60/hr - $34.61/hr
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitates the interactive process for all reasonable accommodation and leave of absence inquiries.
- Engages with internal stakeholders (including Management, Health Services, HR Business Partners, Legal) and external partners (such as Leave Administrators and Workers Compensation) as necessary.
- Coordinates with third-party leave administrators to manage and monitor daily leave and accommodation requests for both union and non-union personnel.
- Ensures compliance with relevant leave and accommodation legislation, including FMLA, CFRA, FEHA, USERRA, and ADA, by reviewing processes with leave administrators.
- Collaborates with HR Coordinator – LOA to process and track all types of leaves, including Disability, Workers Compensation, Parental, Personal, and Professional leaves.
- Acts as the primary contact for employees seeking information about leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations.
- Educates employees on leave and accommodation processes, empowering them to navigate resources independently.
- Maintains comprehensive records of employee leave and accommodation requests through internal HR systems and tracking tools.
- Submits HR transactions and workflow forms for the daily management of leaves of absence.
- Partners with HR Business Partners to address leave, accommodation, and attendance matters.
- Utilizes HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite to enhance HR processes.
- Conducts interactive discussions with team members and communicates updates throughout the process via email and regular mail.
- Mentors relevant HR partners, including HR Coordinator – LOA.
- Provides additional support and coverage for the HR team as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communication, or a related field is preferred; certification in Leave of Absences is a plus.
- A minimum of 2 years of HR experience with knowledge of leave of absence and disability principles, or 1 year of specialized HR experience in LOA and disability is required.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations regarding FMLA, ADA, and Workers Compensation is essential.
- Understanding of medical disability management is required.
Desired Attributes:
- Experience in both non-union and union environments, particularly in retail or hospitality sectors, is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with SAP or other HRIS is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams) is preferred.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters judiciously.
- Proven ability to drive HR processes and deliver high-quality HR services.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic work environment.
- Strong prioritization skills, independent thinking, and problem-solving abilities to ensure timely completion of projects.
