The Lead Credit Risk Analyst will perform comprehensive financial evaluations for Broadstone Net Lease, Inc. This role is essential for the precise and timely generation of detailed financial assessments, as well as the preparation and presentation of financial reports, insights, and recommendations to guide strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in analyzing financial statements and evaluation techniques; exhibit outstanding writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills; and demonstrate the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders at all levels. This position reports to the Vice President of Credit Risk.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough analyses on potential and current tenants to identify trends, evaluate performance, assess financial stability, and recognize potential risks.
  • Benchmark financial statements of assessed tenants against those of comparable organizations within the same sectors and markets.
  • Maintain financial documentation that encapsulates the overall financial status of the tenant portfolio.
  • Monitor industry trends and news related to tenants.
  • Translate analytical data into clear, concise written and verbal presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations for senior management.
  • Establish and nurture tenant relationships.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Credit Risk to prepare relevant portfolio credit information for various reporting to the Board of Directors and Investment/Portfolio Review Committee.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses to evaluate how changes in modeling assumptions affect the financial performance of tenants.
  • Work closely with finance, underwriting, acquisitions, and property management teams.
  • Develop and enhance financial analysis tools, processes, and reports for tenant evaluations.
  • Execute responsibilities while adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Be prepared for potential overtime as required by job duties.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Strong financial analysis capabilities with a deep understanding of internal and audited financial statements and SEC filings.
  • Exceptional quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, along with the ability to manage data in complex business scenarios.
  • Solid knowledge of financial ratio analysis and GAAP accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with finance, real estate, and capital markets terminology and concepts.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Proficient in information gathering and monitoring techniques.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present data and findings.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and capacity to perform under tight deadlines.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple analytical projects efficiently.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Self-motivated, yet willing to seek guidance when necessary.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial credit underwriting is required.
  • Experience in a Commercial REIT environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Moody's Investors Service and/or S&P tools is a plus.
  • Experience with MRI Real Estate Software and/or Power BI is beneficial.
Work Environment:
  • Professional office setting with routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers; typical noise level of an office environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, along with computer and telephone usage, as well as occasional standing, filing, and lifting of up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.
