Job Summary:

The Central Credit Administration Group is a high-performing, dynamic team within Western Alliance Bank. The Portfolio Credit Risk Analyst will take ownership of providing analytical and data support related to credit, concentration, and counterparty risk within our portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced SQL skills to analyze large datasets related to credit, concentration, and counterparty risk, creating and/or utilizing existing tables, views, stored procedures, and SSIS packages in the execution of regular duties.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and internal departments to ensure accurate risk assessments and effective risk management strategies are in place.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Tableau to visualize risk metrics and trends.
  • Assist with establishing portfolio-level limits in collaboration with a line of business, ensuring adherence to the limit framework and alignment with business strategies.
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring risk appetite measures, KPIs, and early warning indicators.
  • Propose improvements to processes, gain approval, document, and implement upgrades.
  • Complete assigned projects, which may be individual or team projects, and include acquiring new data sources, defining/documenting transformations required to load, writing load scripts, and testing.
  • Effectively apply technical expertise and software knowledge to address complex projects, proficient/expert in the Microsoft suite of technologies, including Visual Studio and Management Studio.
  • Manage a pipeline of data and process-related projects, identifying and elevating roadblocks and executing within designated time frames.
  • Utilize excellent communication skills to keep manager, team, and customers apprised of project statuses.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Statistics, MIS, or equivalent.
  • 1-3+ years of technical experience with ETL, including expert or near-expert level SQL proficiency and proficiency with SSIS.
  • Expert-level skills with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel and Pivot Tables.
  • 1-3+ years of experience in the Banking or Financial Services industry preferred.
  • Progress toward CFA, CPA, CAIA, CFM, DBA, or other related designation preferred.
