Job Overview

Position Title: Clinical Quality Specialist

Position Summary:

The Center for Alternative is in search of a Clinical Quality Specialist dedicated to enhancing the quality of mental health treatment services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in collaborating with regulatory bodies and will be well-versed in pertinent laws and regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, operating Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Remote Work Opportunity:

This role offers the flexibility of remote work.

Compensation: The annual salary for the Clinical Quality Specialist position is $65,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform internal chart evaluations and audits to ensure client records adhere to care standards, licensing requirements, medical necessity, and Medicaid regulations.
  • Conduct timely utilization reviews of client documentation for medical necessity regarding admissions, ongoing stays, and discharge processes; provide recommendations to management and track the implementation of these decisions by the treatment team.
  • Facilitate and oversee the incident reporting and review process in accordance with relevant regulations, ensuring effective staff training and productive incident review meetings.
  • Support risk management strategies for clients at high risk for adverse outcomes, collaborating with treatment program managers to enhance quality of care and evidence-based practices.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives with program managers to elevate program performance and client outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with client privacy regulations and the confidentiality of protected health information.
  • Review and approve documentation intended for stakeholders in the criminal legal system regarding client treatment progress.
  • Design and implement training programs for staff on policies, documentation standards, and incident reporting to align with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of LMSW or LMHC credentials with a minimum of one year of experience in quality improvement and compliance within NYS licensed treatment programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Capable of providing constructive feedback and handling sensitive matters while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment that values diversity and belonging.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint).
