Job Summary

The Greater Somerset County YMCA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as the Princeton Young Achievers Program Site Supervisor. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations at a designated site for the Princeton Young Achievers Program, ensuring the successful delivery of the program, and providing a fun and safe environment for children to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise groups of children and lead staff to create a positive and engaging experience for all participants.
  • Plan and implement a varied and challenging program of activities for children, including homework time, enrichment activities, organized physical activities, free play, and snack time.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with children and families, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
  • Communicate effectively with the Youth Development Team to ensure seamless program delivery and address any issues that may arise.
  • Support parent/family communication and follow-up, working closely with the Director to ensure a positive and supportive experience for all families.
  • Facilitate planning and participate in-service meetings to ensure the program is meeting the needs of the children and families.
  • Supervise and manage daily snack, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all participants.
  • Maintain and track supplies for programs and activities, including equipment and program supplies, administrative supplies, and first aid equipment.
  • Maintain site/room, equipment, and materials in an orderly and safe manner, adhering to all safety regulations and protocols.
  • Manage rosters and attendance records, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Implement safety measures and regulations in compliance with the NJ Department of Children & Families - Office of Licensing & Community Partners.
  • Supervise and document regular safety drills, ensuring all participants are prepared in the event of an emergency.
  • Organize and manage site-based licensing paperwork, ensuring all necessary documents are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Ensure implementation of health and safety policies that pertain to program participants and staff at all times, including follow-through on all incident reports and document filing.
  • Ensure that all Emergency Procedures are carried out in accordance with Princeton YMCA & Greater Somerset County YMCA standard operating procedures.
  • Support efforts of promotion and publicity of all YMCA programs, working closely with the Marketing Team to ensure a positive and engaging experience for all participants.
  • Demonstrate leadership and be a positive influence and role model to colleagues and staff, embodying the values of the YMCA.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • At least two years of experience working with children in a school, after-school, or camp setting.
  • Experience with children in school, after-school, or camp setting.
  • Sound judgment, ability to prioritize and be self-directed, and work independently.
  • Ability to work flexibly with a collaborative team of staff members and volunteers.
  • Ability to maintain systems for accurate record-keeping.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification and/or obtain within 90 days of hire.

  • Positive, can-do attitude, demonstrated by a willingness to pitch in and help wherever needed, as well as an ability to anticipate what is needed.
  • Must be committed to the goals and objectives of the Princeton YMCA programs.
  • Must be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with YMCA standards and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or above in Elementary Education, Recreation, or comparable experience.

Hours & Compensation

Available working hours are Monday-Friday, 2:30pm - 6pm (After School). Specific hours may vary based on program site. Hours worked will be between 15-30 hours per week. Employment is during the school year and follows the Princeton Public Schools academic calendar from September 2024-June 2025.
