Role Summary:
The Princeton Young Achievers Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations at a designated site, ensuring the effective implementation of the program. This role involves engaging with children, assisting with homework, and fostering a safe and enjoyable environment filled with innovative activities and games.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise groups of children while managing staff effectively.
- Design and execute a diverse range of activities for children aged 6-13, including Homework Assistance, Enrichment Activities, Organized Physical Activities, Free Play, and Snack Time.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages productive play and learning, ensuring access to all necessary resources.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with children and their families, greeting them positively each day.
- Communicate any program-related issues to the Youth Development Team.
- Collaborate with the Director to enhance parent/family communication and follow-up.
- Participate in planning and in-service meetings alongside the Director.
- Oversee daily snack management and maintain accurate supply inventories for programs and activities.
- Ensure the site, equipment, and materials are kept in a safe and organized manner.
- Manage attendance records and maintain accurate documentation.
- Implement safety protocols in accordance with state regulations and ensure regular safety drills are conducted.
- Organize and manage necessary licensing paperwork for the site.
- Uphold health and safety policies for program participants and staff, including thorough documentation of incidents.
- Support promotional efforts for all YMCA programs.
- Exemplify leadership qualities and serve as a positive role model for colleagues and staff.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- A minimum of two years of experience working with children in educational or recreational settings.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize tasks, and work independently.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of staff and volunteers.
- Proficient in maintaining accurate records.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Commitment to inclusivity and working with diverse populations.
- Possess a positive attitude and a proactive approach to responsibilities.
- Dedication to the mission and objectives of the Princeton YMCA programs.
- Willingness to adhere to YMCA standards and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Elementary Education, Recreation, or a related field.
