Position: Assistant Site SupervisorThe Assistant Site Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily activities of after-school program participants in grades K-5. This position involves assisting in the planning, development, and execution of various program components and activities within the Princeton Young Achievers After School program.
The Group Leader is responsible for fostering the academic and social growth of children, ensuring a safe, engaging, and healthy learning atmosphere. The Assistant Site Supervisor will utilize a range of resources provided by the Site Supervisor to introduce new skills during activities. Ongoing professional development and collaborative planning sessions with the Site Supervisor are essential components of this role.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee groups of children and lead staff as necessary.
- Assist the Site Supervisor with daily site operations.
- Fulfill the Site Supervisor's duties in their absence.
- Design and implement a diverse and stimulating program of activities for children (ages 6-13), including Homework Time, Enrichment Activities, Organized Physical Activities, Free Play, and Snack Time.
- Foster a fun and productive environment for children, ensuring access to all necessary materials.
- Exhibit leadership qualities and serve as a positive role model for colleagues and staff.
- Communicate any issues related to participants to the Site Supervisor and Program Director.
- Supervise volunteers in collaboration with the Site Supervisor.
- Support parent/family communication and follow-up efforts alongside the Site Supervisor.
- Manage daily snack supervision.
- Maintain and track supplies for programs and activities, including equipment and administrative supplies.
- Keep accurate attendance records and ensure proper record-keeping.
- Implement safety measures in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Document and supervise fire drills.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety policies for program participants and staff.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, particularly regarding medical and disciplinary situations.
- Promote YMCA programs within the community.
- Ensure all Emergency Procedures align with standard operating procedures.
- Uphold a positive image of the YMCA in the community, reflecting its mission and philosophy.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of one year of experience working with children in educational or recreational settings.
- Strong group management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in developing interactive and educational activities.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with children and adults.
- Able to manage daily administrative and supervisory responsibilities.
- Adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Monday to Friday, with specific hours for designated school dismissal days.
