About the Campaign

The James Mercer campaign is dedicated to promoting democratic values and enhancing community engagement in North Carolina. Our mission focuses on supporting vulnerable populations through various programs, including assistance for low-income families and transitional housing for veterans.

Position Overview

The Campaign Field Coordinator will act as the primary representative of the campaign within the designated district. This role involves collaborating with the campaign manager and the organizing director to implement a comprehensive voter outreach strategy. Responsibilities will encompass a range of activities such as voter identification, grassroots canvassing, volunteer recruitment, training, and community organizing. Ideal candidates should possess a proactive attitude, problem-solving skills, and a genuine commitment to community outreach. Previous experience in political campaigns is not a prerequisite, although candidates with relevant backgrounds in organizing or advocacy will be prioritized.

Key Responsibilities

  • ● Engage in direct voter outreach through canvassing and phone/text communications
  • ● Collaborate with campaign leadership to design and execute a strategic field plan
  • ● Recruit, train, and oversee canvassers to achieve voter engagement and capacity-building objectives
  • ● Organize and manage volunteer initiatives
  • ● Coordinate volunteer events and activities
  • ● Achieve established weekly and monthly outreach targets
  • ● Assist with campaign office operations

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • ● Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the USA
  • ● Comfortable engaging with voters in person
  • ● Ability to walk long distances as part of outreach efforts
  • ● Proficient in Google Suite and possess a Gmail account
  • ● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ● Strong organizational abilities and multitasking skills
  • ● Flexible, adaptable, and a team-oriented mindset
  • ● Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • ● Access to a smartphone and laptop
  • ● Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • ● Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends

This position is part-time, with a maximum of 20 hours per week. Compensation is competitive, and the role requires in-person engagement within the designated district, including significant travel.
