Job Summary

The Proposal Strategist is a key member of the business development team at Burns & McDonnell, responsible for developing and executing proposal strategies to win new business opportunities. This role requires a strong understanding of the company's services and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop proposal plans, including storyboards, proposal teams, and initial proposal management plans.
  • Conduct reviews and adjust marketing materials in response to feedback and requests.
  • Lead the development of graphics and visuals, including the creation of distinctive value propositions.
  • Perform post-submittal activities, including interviews and negotiations.
  • Develop and deliver proposal services, including contract outlines and metrics.
  • Support the development of business development strategies and assist with the closing of project deliverables.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build professional networks and stay up-to-date on industry trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business administration, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in marketing, business development, or sales with a professional services firm.
  • Experience at an A/E firm preferred.
  • Excellent written, copy editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Adobe InDesign strongly preferred.
  • Certified Proposal Management Professional (APMP) preferred or equivalent.
