Business Development Director

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business development, with a focus on diagnostics and biotech industries. They will be responsible for cultivating new and maintaining existing customer and partner relationships, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, and developing and executing annual business development strategies.

This is a remote-based position with a preference for candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, Boston, or Austin. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President of Commercial Business Development and will be responsible for working closely with our technical teams to develop and support customer engagement, opportunity assessment, and proposal development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Experience in and understanding of the in vitro diagnostics industry and regulatory pathway
  • Shape and execute annual business development strategy and long-range planning
  • Cultivate new and maintain existing customer and partner relationships
  • Actively identify, qualify, position for, capture, communicate and pursue commercial opportunities and strategies
  • Research, assess, communicate new and emerging trends that impact the business
  • Successfully partner with technical team members to develop and support customer engagement, opportunity assessment, bid/no bid decisions, storyboard and win theme development, application of market and competitor intel, and proposal development
  • Represent MRIGlobal at conferences, industry days, customer and partner meetings

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 15 years of related business development experience in diagnostics or related industries
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant science or business field. Masters preferred
  • Strong relationships in and understanding of the diagnostics and biotech industries, including key decision makers, procurement processes, budgets, strategies, partner community
  • Proven success originating, developing, and submitting competitive proposals in the commercial biotech market
  • Experience analyzing and understanding market drivers, technologies, and customer's mission requirements
  • Proficiency with Salesforce CRM, MS Office, and standard business tools
