Position Overview

Organization Background: The impact of incarceration and economic challenges extends beyond those directly affected, influencing the broader community and perpetuating cycles of inequality. To foster a more equitable society, it is essential to rethink our approach to policy-making and community safety.

In collaboration with various partners, a new initiative has been launched to enhance economic mobility and community safety by addressing the barriers faced by individuals within the criminal justice system. This initiative aims to create a supportive environment that prioritizes rehabilitation over punishment and empowers communities to seek transformative solutions.

Program Overview: Many individuals released from incarceration encounter significant obstacles in accessing essential services such as housing, employment, and healthcare. This initiative aims to establish a centralized hub that provides coordinated support to individuals navigating the complexities of the criminal justice system.

Role Summary:

The Community Resource Facilitator will be instrumental in promoting the objectives of the initiative by offering tailored support to individuals involved in the justice system. This role involves managing a caseload and actively engaging with clients to ensure they are aware of and connected to available resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages ongoing engagement with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  2. Conduct assessments to identify immediate needs and facilitate access to appropriate services.
  3. Connect clients with community resources based on their specific needs and eligibility.
  4. Ensure effective follow-up to confirm successful connections to services.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance referral processes.
  6. Participate in regular meetings to share insights and improve service delivery.
  7. Stay informed about community resources and best practices related to recidivism reduction and social support.
  8. Act as a liaison between clients and various community agencies.
  9. Maintain accurate records of client interactions and service referrals.
  10. Collaborate with program leadership to evaluate service effectiveness.
  11. Attend training sessions to enhance skills relevant to the role.
  12. Perform additional duties as needed to support program operations.

Qualifications:

Education: A high school diploma is required; an associate degree is preferred.

Experience: Prior experience working with clients impacted by the criminal justice system or engaging with diverse populations in social services is advantageous. Lived experience in navigating these systems is also highly valued.

Skills:

  • Familiarity with community resources and services.
  • Empathy and professionalism in addressing the needs of individuals in the justice system.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with peers and partners.
  • Attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
  • Proficiency in using technology for communication and record-keeping.

Work Environment:

This position involves regular communication with clients and requires travel between various service locations to meet client needs.
