JOB TITLE: Adventure Course Facilitator

REPORTS TO: Senior Program Director

FLSA TYPE: Non-Exempt

Salary: $13.00-$15.00 DOE

JOB PURPOSE:

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Program Director, you will engage directly with children, members, and other adults/youth, leading activities associated with the challenge course program. Your role is vital in fostering strong character values in participants. The staff consistently embodies the philosophy, mission, and objectives of the YMCA and its camp initiatives. Collaboration with fellow employees is essential to achieve the YMCA's goals and objectives.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):
  1. Attend and/or maintain all required Adventure Course Certification training.
  2. Regularly communicate with the Senior Program Director regarding the cleanliness and safety of the grounds and facilities.
  3. Coordinate program scheduling with the Senior Program Director.
  4. Assist in maintaining challenge course elements, including the cleaning of equipment.
  5. Conduct daily environment checks and maintain ropes/equipment logs.
  6. Supervise participants at all times.
  7. Respond appropriately to all emergency and non-emergency situations, completing necessary paperwork to ensure safety as a top priority.
  8. Implement curriculum and activities in accordance with schedules.
  9. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Required:
  • Must be 21 years old
  • Adventure Course Certified
  • CPR for Professional Rescuer, AED, and O2
  • Current Standard First Aid Certification
  • At least 3 months of experience working and/or volunteering with children ages 5-17
  • Must exemplify good moral behavior and demonstrate sound judgment
  • Desire to work with children on a daily basis
  • Ability to implement curriculum effectively
  • Understand the nature of the YMCA as a membership organization
Preferred:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in adventure course facilitation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish
