Position Overview

The University of Vermont is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Program Assistant for the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) initiative. This role is crucial in providing assistance to veterans and their families, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as the primary point of contact for prospective participants in the SSVF program.
- Assist program staff with participant enrollment processes, including initial assessments, referrals to suitable agencies, and data entry into the online system.
- Maintain and organize both electronic and physical files to ensure compliance with program standards.
- Coordinate logistical support for program staff and undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Program Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

- An Associate's degree in a relevant field, coupled with one to three years of related experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective interpersonal abilities.
- Proven attention to detail and the capability to work with sensitive populations requiring specific experiential knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

- Personal experience as a military veteran or familiarity with homelessness issues; background in social services support is advantageous.

Additional Information

- This position is contingent upon ongoing funding and includes a six-month probationary period.
- Please note that this is a bargaining unit position.
