Position Overview

The University of Vermont is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Program Assistant for Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF). This role is pivotal in providing essential support to veterans and their families, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary point of contact for potential program participants.
  • Assist program staff with participant enrollment processes, including initial assessments and referrals to appropriate agencies.
  • Maintain and audit both electronic and physical files to ensure compliance with program standards.
  • Coordinate logistical support for program staff and undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Program Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess an Associate's degree in a relevant field, along with one to three years of related experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as effective interpersonal abilities, are essential. A keen attention to detail and the capability to work with sensitive populations requiring specific experiential knowledge are also required.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience as a military veteran or familiarity with homelessness, along with training or experience in social services support, is highly desirable.

Additional Information

This position is contingent upon ongoing funding and includes a 6-month probationary period. It is classified as a bargaining unit position.
