Job Description Summary
The IT Support Technician is responsible for delivering local computing assistance, ensuring that faculty, staff, and students effectively utilize technology in their academic and administrative functions. This role involves maintaining secure and reliable systems while supporting the organization's goals through innovative information technology solutions.

Job Description

The IT Support Technician will provide exceptional technical support and innovative IT solutions that align with the educational and research objectives of the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

1. **Desktop Support**: The primary duty involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computers in a mixed operating system environment. The successful candidate will monitor incoming support requests and respond both remotely and in person as necessary.

2. **Device Configuration**: Proficiency in configuring various mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets, is essential. The technician will assist faculty with classroom technology and ensure a strong commitment to information security.

3. **Client Support**: The ideal candidate will be adept at assisting clients with varying levels of technical expertise, providing clear communication and support in a collaborative environment. Participation in institutional technology initiatives is expected.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 0 to 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include a BA/BS with one to three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Familiarity with mobile devices, web browsers, email applications, basic networking concepts, and antivirus software is required.
  • Experience with both Mac OS and Windows is necessary; Linux experience is a plus.
  • Experience with ticketing systems, Active Directory, encryption, and endpoint management systems is highly desirable.
  • Flexibility in work schedule may be required occasionally.
