Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Administrative Police Officer to join our team at Eastern Virginia Medical School. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for performing administrative duties, providing support to our law enforcement team, and ensuring the safety and security of our campus community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance to our law enforcement team, including tasks such as data entry, record-keeping, and report preparation.
  • Campus Safety: Conduct daily safety checks, respond to emergency situations, and provide support to our emergency management team.
  • Training and Development: Assist with training and development programs for our police officers, including classroom instruction and on-the-job training.
  • Investigations: Assist with investigations, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing reports.
  • Community Engagement: Build relationships with our campus community, including students, faculty, and staff, to promote a safe and secure environment.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in police science, criminal justice, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a law enforcement officer or 6 months of experience as a police officer 1 with our department.
  • Certifications: Certified by the Virginia DCJS as a Basic Law Enforcement Officer; IAHSS basic certification preferred.
