Facilities Technician

The Facilities Technician plays a crucial role in conducting routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across various domains including security, cleaning, HVAC, electrical systems, structural integrity, painting, elevator operations, appliance maintenance, waste management, grounds upkeep, parking facilities, and plumbing. This position also involves ensuring that service contracts with vendors are executed according to the defined scope of work. Additionally, the technician identifies maintenance opportunities to enhance facility safety and aids team members with daily work order requests, including workspace modifications and inventory management as needed.

Key Responsibilities of the Facilities Technician:

  • Assist the Facilities Manager in coordinating vendor activities and overseeing the general maintenance of all properties, as well as renovations and the upkeep of mechanical assets.
  • Collaborate with third-party service providers to ensure work is performed according to the approved scope and estimates.
  • Carry out electrical tasks, basic plumbing, light bulb replacements, exterior cleaning, waste collection, facility maintenance, equipment setup for events, transportation of large items, monthly inspections, and work with the Facilities Manager to determine when external vendor assistance is necessary.
  • Act as a primary responder for building-related issues outside of standard business hours, including weekends and early mornings, addressing climate control, odors, spills, damages, security concerns, emergencies, and repairs.
  • Support the Facilities Manager in coordinating with external vendors to ensure maintenance and construction projects are completed on schedule and within specifications.
  • Oversee security-related tests and maintenance, such as annual fire system tests and drills.
  • Order and distribute materials for light facility maintenance tasks.
  • Investigate and resolve facility-related issues.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Manage the facilities database, ensuring accurate documentation of facility-related documents, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager with facility-related components of the Business Continuity Plan.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

This position may be suitable for you if you meet the following requirements:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in facilities maintenance across multiple properties, demonstrating strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using standard powered and non-powered tools.
  • Preferred: 1-year certificate from a college or technical school in a facility-related field (e.g., NATE/HVAC Certificate).
  • Experience overseeing third-party vendors in a facility context is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret facility operation-related documents (e.g., blueprints).
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills related to facilities.
  • Capability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Must pass a criminal background check, credit check, and drug screening.
  • Possess a clean, valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to multiple locations.
