Position Summary
The Environmental Engineer at City Brewing plays a pivotal role within our Environmental Health and Safety team. This position is responsible for the execution of Environmental Management Systems, ensuring a safety-oriented workplace for all staff while adhering to all relevant Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations. The role also involves implementing practices that align with the company's environmental policies and providing essential training to employees regarding complex compliance and technical matters.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Adherence
- Collaborates with engineering teams and plant staff to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Monitors site activities to ensure alignment with Company and external regulatory requirements, including but not limited to: Process Safety Management, air pollution prevention, stormwater management, and fire safety systems.
Waste Management Oversight
- Manages all aspects of wastewater compliance, including flow monitoring, reporting to governing bodies, and system enhancements.
- Supervises hazardous waste collection and disposal operations.
- Coordinates initiatives aimed at sustainability improvements.
Air Quality Oversight
- Ensures compliance with all Air Quality permit conditions and regulations.
- Maintains accurate production records.
- Monitors fuel consumption.
- Submits all necessary reports to relevant government agencies and stakeholders.
Spill Response Management
- Acts promptly in response to spill incidents, ensuring timely reporting to local, state, and federal agencies.
- Leads initiatives focused on spill prevention.
- Conducts regular spill prevention training for relevant employees.
Training and Development
- Works with the Learning and Development team to provide consistent environmental training for all personnel.
- Mentors team members on safety best practices through active engagement on the production floor.
- Guides teams through changes in environmental safety and compliance policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the environmental sector, including permitting and wastewater management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal employment laws and applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) is essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to lead teams through transitions effectively.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, administrative, and organizational capabilities.
