Position Overview:
The Process Improvement Engineer plays a crucial role in providing technical assistance for production methodologies, including machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly, specifically in the manufacturing of HVAC centrifugal chillers.
This role not only involves offering technical guidance but also leading initiatives aimed at enhancing processes of varying complexity and contributing manufacturing engineering insights for product design modifications.
Work Schedule:
This position operates on a second shift schedule, requiring onsite presence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assume ownership of production processes and controls within a manufacturing environment, ensuring technical support is available to meet or exceed customer expectations.
2. Conduct process qualification activities to verify that processes adhere to required specifications.
3. Develop and maintain essential documentation for new or revised processes, while also facilitating training for production team members.
4. Identify potential projects and provide technical leadership to help achieve safety, quality, and productivity enhancement objectives.
5. Employ a standardized problem-solving methodology to address product and process failures, developing root cause solutions to prevent recurrence.
6. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to build consensus and achieve optimal outcomes, including participation in and occasionally leading rapid improvement initiatives as part of the Lean transformation journey.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• A minimum of two years of related work experience is required (co-ops and internships will be considered). Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles is advantageous.
• Strong project leadership and team-building skills are essential.
• Effective communication skills at all organizational levels are required.
• Initiative to further develop technical and interpersonal skills is expected.
• A strong work ethic, positive attitude, customer-centric approach, and results-driven mindset are crucial.
Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is between $80,000 and $110,000, based on national averages. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as seniority, merit, and geographic location.
