Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Additive Engineer is responsible for the design and implementation of additive manufacturing processes, particularly focusing on metal 3D printing technologies utilizing SolidWorks. This role involves collaboration with a diverse team comprising engineering, sales, and customer support to develop and execute strategies aimed at fostering growth within the 3D printing sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and detail molds, models, and fixtures.
  • Assist in the estimation and quoting of tools.
  • Engage in communication with external clients.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Additive Rooms.
  • Occasionally perform machining tasks in the Tool Room as required.
  • Specify and select appropriate additive materials.
  • Interpret and analyze blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of various powder bed additive manufacturing machines.
  • Utilize six-sigma quality methodologies to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control processes and outcomes.
  • Ensure the maintenance and support of processes, procedures, and KPIs relevant to the position.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong organizational skills and effective verbal communication abilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A genuine passion for rapid prototyping and 3D printing technologies.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to deliver successful designs under tight deadlines.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience in customer service and client interaction.
  • Proficient in GD&T and capable of thinking in three dimensions.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Pro E, Rhino, or similar tools.
  • A two-year degree or technical certification is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position requires exposure to manufacturing areas, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Typical ambient temperatures and standard plant lighting will be present throughout the facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit or stand as needed.
  • Walking primarily on level surfaces for extended periods.
  • Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as necessary to access documents or store materials.
  • Proper lifting techniques are essential.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Capability to meet the physical demands of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
