Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Assistant to join our team at the Breast Center at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care activities as identified on the Patient Care Assistant competency checklist.
  • Recognize and report changing patient care needs to the registered nurse.
  • Document findings and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with unit-specific standards and systems.
  • Provide emotional and physical comfort to patients and create a safe environment for patients.
  • Maintain department equipment, report and follow-up on equipment in need of repairs, and identify life safety issues.
  • Participate in hourly rounding and use AIDET at the first encounter with each patient each day.
Requirements
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistants with 3 years of experience in an acute care facility or 5 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or sub-acute setting.
  • Nursing students actively enrolled in a nursing program who have completed the first semester of the nursing program.
  • A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Basic computer knowledge preferred.
