Key Responsibilities:
The Patient Registration Representative plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless patient experience through effective coordination and support during the registration process. Key duties include:

  1. Facilitating accurate patient identification.
  2. Collecting comprehensive patient demographic information.
  3. Verifying insurance details and eligibility.
  4. Assessing and collecting patient financial responsibilities.
  5. Connecting patients with the Patient Registration Specialist for financial counseling as necessary.

This position also requires adherence to organizational policies regarding patient financial obligations, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all transactions.

Information Resource:
The Patient Registration Representative serves as a knowledgeable resource for patients and their families, providing clarity on hospital policies, financial responsibilities, and patient rights.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office, healthcare insurance company, or related revenue cycle roles is required; 2 years is preferred. Relevant education or training may compensate for a lack of experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of insurance policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for payment processing.
  • Experience in managing financial transactions.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in computer skills.
  • Knowledge of charity care programs and various government and non-government assistance programs is preferred.

Specifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Special Skills: Typing speed of 30 WPM and proficient computer skills.
