Role Summary:

The Patient Services Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and efficient patient admissions and registrations before they meet with our healthcare providers. This includes meticulous data entry of patient demographics and insurance details into our management system, verifying insurance coverage, and assisting uninsured patients with enrollment in available programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit professionalism and provide outstanding customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff.
  • Ensure precise registration of patient insurance and demographic information within the electronic health record system.
  • Process co-payments and patient payments, maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Utilize electronic verification systems to confirm insurance eligibility.
  • Screen and enroll uninsured patients in various assistance programs.
  • Manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, and send reminders to patients.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and conduct all tasks with respect and courtesy.
  • Maintain necessary supplies and forms to support daily operations.
  • Educate patients about available programs for the uninsured.
  • Respond to inquiries from patients and staff regarding clinic services.
  • Collaborate with back office personnel to streamline workflow.
  • Complete billing reports accurately and punctually.
  • Meet daily targets for data entry and patient registration.
  • Support team members in achieving patient care productivity goals.
  • Serve as a resource for staff and providers regarding the electronic health record system.
  • Assist in training new staff members.
  • Answer phone calls, screen inquiries, relay messages, and greet visitors professionally.
  • Prepare various administrative medical forms for external agencies.
  • Process requests for Protected Health Information in accordance with established protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1-3 years of experience in a medical office preferred.
  • Typing speed of 35-45 words per minute.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Familiarity with medical and insurance terminology is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, practice management systems, and electronic health records.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to apply mathematical skills for patient program eligibility assessments.
  • Respect for diverse backgrounds and commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality.
