Sales and Events Manager
The Sales and Events Manager is a highly skilled professional responsible for driving revenue growth and delivering exceptional customer experiences at Park Hyatt New York. With a focus on group sales, events, and revenue management, this role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for hospitality.
Main Responsibilities:
- Sell guest rooms, meeting space, and other Hyatt services to customer groups, manage accounts, and conduct hotel tours, solicit and generate business.
- Prepare and present effective and detailed proposals and presentations, maintain well-organized documentation and reports, utilize Hyatt systems, and coordinate customer service requirements as appropriate.
- Participate and may lead sales and event meetings and other staff meetings.
- Organize and participate in client entertainment/FAMs, special promotions, tours, tradeshows/conferences.
- Assist in creating and implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments.
- Maximize sales occupancy and rates in conjunction with hotel operations to increase profits.
- Prospect new business using a wide variety of sales methods, including but not limited to phone calls, outside sales calls, attending tradeshows and conferences, and active participation within the industry to strengthen and expand customer base and brand awareness.
- Maximize sales occupancy and rates in conjunction with hotel operations to increase profits by increasing group room sales.
- Establish and build successful relationships that generate sales opportunities.
- Effectively communicate client requirements, ensuring all information is accurate between client and hotel.
- Ensure business is turned over accurately and in a timely manner to ensure high-level service delivery.
- Analyze and conduct market research to fully understand competitive set, market conditions, and current trends to maximize revenue and hotel's market position.
- Negotiate, prepare, and execute contracts that meet the hotel's business plan objectives.
- Problem solve and develop solutions to meet client's important requirements/needs.
- Maintain or exceed sales goals as assigned by DOSM.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years prior hotel group sales experience is required.
- Upscale or luxury hotel experience is preferred.
- Exceptional prospecting and negotiation skills.
- Strong revenue management skills to create financially sound group sales proposals.
- Competitive spirit with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a strong desire to exceed revenue goals/expectations.
- Excellent customer service skills; demonstrates a positive attitude and is hospitable.
- Seeks out and participates in available training opportunities and applies learning and newly identified best practices where possible.
- Responds to all issues (internal and external) in a positive manner and takes action to resolve.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A strategic and dynamic thinker.
- Must be proficient in general computer knowledge.
- Knowledge of Envision Sales and other Hyatt systems is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality or Business Management is preferred.
- Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask, and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to travel for tradeshows, conferences, and development.
