Role Summary: The Assistant Manager of Housing (AMH) plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily functions of our non-residential housing initiatives. Reporting directly to the Housing Program Manager, the AMH provides essential supervision to the Project Break Free and ESSHI housing case managers. This position involves delivering personalized case management services to clients, which encompasses assessment, safety planning, goal setting, and securing safe, affordable permanent housing. The AMH adopts a strengths-based approach, empowering clients throughout their journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Project Break Free and ESSHI housing programs, ensuring compliance with federal HUD and ESSHI reporting requirements.
  • Supervise and support the Project Break Free and ESSHI case management teams.
  • Act as the primary liaison for Albany County's Domestic Violence Coordinated Entry.
  • Evaluate client needs and determine appropriate levels of support and eligibility for program participation.
  • Foster positive relationships with community housing services, landlords, and property management entities.
  • Maintain a manageable caseload while providing direct case management services.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop effective safety plans.
  • Assist clients in obtaining safe and affordable housing, including support during the moving process.
  • Provide advocacy and crisis intervention by accompanying clients to various agencies and institutions.
  • Connect clients with relevant community services, including other offerings from Equinox, Inc.
  • Ensure accurate case documentation and reporting for agency and funding sources.
  • Conduct weekly case reviews with input from involved parties.
  • Respond to the 24-hour hotline, offering counseling, information, and scheduling services.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and committees as required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local service organizations to promote awareness of domestic violence services.
  • Report any suspected cases of child abuse or maltreatment as mandated.
  • Adhere to Equinox's mission, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to enhance program effectiveness.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to navigate stairs.
  • Capability to lift and carry a minimum of 15 lbs.
  • Ability to manage basic facility emergencies.
  • Valid NYS Driver License for client transportation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a human services field or equivalent experience (5 to 7 years relevant experience may substitute for advanced degree).
  • At least three years of experience in human services.
  • A minimum of two years in case management.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in housing services.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with HUD and/or ESSHI funding.
  • Fluency in Spanish or another language is a plus.
  • Experience working with populations affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, or mental health issues.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday
