Job Overview

POSITION: COORDINATOR OF FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY PROGRAMS

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: This role is pivotal in the development and oversight of the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) initiative at the Albany Housing Authority. The FSS initiative aims to synchronize the provision of both public and private resources and services for residents of Public Housing and Section 8 families. The primary objective is to empower these families towards achieving economic independence and self-sufficiency. This position entails comprehensive case management, including client intake and ongoing support throughout the FSS initiative.

CORE DUTIES:

  • Deliver intensive case management throughout all stages of the FSS initiative;
  • Assist each FSS family in setting and achieving their goals while connecting them with relevant services;
  • Conduct regular meetings with FSS families to evaluate program adherence and address any barriers to progress;
  • Collaborate with the Albany County FSS Coordinating Committee to ensure participants access necessary supportive services;
  • Stay informed about City, State, and Federal assistance programs available to FSS participants;
  • Prepare all mandatory reports for the FSS initiative;
  • Utilize an automated information system for data entry and retrieval;
  • Perform additional related tasks as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of the principles and techniques of federally assisted housing programs;
  • Familiarity with social service programs designed for low-income individuals;
  • Ability to identify objectives and design programs to meet those needs;
  • Skill in fostering cooperation among diverse stakeholders;
  • Proficient in preparing written reports and documentation;
  • Competent in using personal computers and office technology;
  • Effective communication skills;
  • Sound judgment and initiative;
  • Resourcefulness and tactfulness;
  • Physical capability aligned with the demands of the role.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in public administration, social work, social sciences, or a related field; OR an Associate's Degree with two years of relevant experience in housing management or social services; OR a combination of training and experience equivalent to the above.

COMPENSATION: Annual Salary: $48,968.94 Grade 10
