The Role

As the Head of Student Admissions and Middle School Initiatives, you will spearhead the strategic execution of our year-round programs that lay the groundwork for students' college aspirations, commencing in the summer after 6th grade. You will also oversee the annual recruitment and admissions process, identifying and enrolling a diverse cohort of new students, while collaborating with educational leaders and community stakeholders.

Your leadership will involve managing a dedicated team, including program staff and academic advisors, to develop and implement effective recruitment strategies, create engaging program content, and ensure the alignment of middle school initiatives with our broader educational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Admissions
  • Design and implement effective recruitment strategies to achieve enrollment targets for the Middle School summer program.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, school administrators, and educators to identify and attract potential students.
  • Utilize data analytics to inform recruitment and admissions strategies, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
  • Train and guide staff and volunteers in the recruitment process, including application reviews and family engagement.
  • Select and prepare the incoming class of students for a successful transition into the program.
Program Development and Delivery
  • Lead the planning and execution of the hallmark Middle School Summer Program and After-School initiatives.
  • Engage families through personalized communication and educational opportunities during the middle school years.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to implement individualized student advising throughout the academic year.
  • Ensure all programming aligns with organizational priorities and strategic goals.
Evaluation and Data Management
  • Work with leadership to establish metrics for program impact and success.
  • Oversee data collection and analysis to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Partnership Management
  • Develop and nurture relationships with external organizations to enhance program visibility and impact.
  • Represent the organization at community events and professional gatherings.
  • Collaborate with the development team to create volunteer opportunities that support student success.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of leadership experience in youth development or educational organizations focused on college access.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by first-generation college students.
  • Experience in developing engaging programming for middle school students.
  • Strong communication skills, with a preference for bilingual candidates.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and program evaluation methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
