Position Overview

This is a Part-Time role requiring 18.75 hours per week, primarily from 7 AM to 3 PM. The Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in delivering essential care to patients, assisting them with daily activities, and supporting the healthcare team in maintaining a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist patients with daily living activities to enhance their comfort and well-being.
  2. Provide necessary supplies and support for patients' personal hygiene needs.
  3. Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding when required.
  4. Measure and document vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, and fluid intake/output.
  5. Collect necessary specimens such as urine, feces, and sputum for diagnostic purposes.
  6. Report any significant changes in patients' conditions or concerns to the registered nurse.
  7. Perform basic diagnostic tests and treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  8. Apply simple dressings and assist with the management of intravenous therapies.
  9. Conduct EKGs and assist with the insertion and removal of Foley catheters.
  10. Support patients with elimination needs, including the use of bedpans and urinals.
  11. Participate actively in ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  12. Respond promptly to patient calls and emergency signals.
  13. Identify and report unsafe conditions or practices to maintain a secure environment.
  14. Utilize safety equipment such as side rails and restraints appropriately.
  15. Assist in the transportation of patients as needed.
  16. Engage in emergency preparedness protocols and drills.
  17. Collaborate effectively within the healthcare team, accepting assignments and seeking clarification when necessary.
  18. Document patient care observations and communicate findings to the registered nurse regularly.
  19. Engage in ongoing education to maintain professional competence.
  20. Perform additional related duties as required.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a Nursing Assistant Course is mandatory. Heart Saver Certification is preferred. A minimum of two years of direct patient care experience is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to convey information effectively are crucial.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $22.30 - $24.55 per hour.
