SEA MAR Community Health Centers is seeking a Certified Peer Counselor to join our Behavioral Health Program in Vancouver, WA. As a Certified Peer Counselor, you will provide behavioral health crisis intervention services to individuals referred to our Adult Mobile Crisis Intervention (AMCI) team. You will work collaboratively with a Sea Mar Mental Health Professional (MHP) or Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS) to provide outreach, referral, and follow-up supportive services.
Responsibilities- Provide case management services to assigned consumers, including assistance with housing, income, employment, medical, and mental health treatment.
- Assist recovering persons in identifying their personal interests and goals in relation to recovery and integrating into the community.
- Educate clinical staff and others about the recovery process and the damaging role that stigma can play in undermining recovery.
- Assist recovering persons in recognizing their strengths and using them to achieve their goals.
- Have an understanding of community resources and assist consumers in accessing services as appropriate.
- Assure appropriate documentation of activities.
- Assist with case management for clients from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health programs.
- Participate in clinical consults and seek additional consultations as needed.
- Attend and participate in meetings as directed.
- Help create an environment that fosters good mental health and teamwork.
- Provide on-site services to acute-care consumers, including groups, one-on-one support, and coordination with other clinic services and staff.
- Must be a consumer of service within Washington State's mental health system.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups.
- One year paid or volunteer experience working with Mental Health and graduation from the Washington Institute Peer Advocacy Training Program or equivalent required.
- Must be a Certified Peer Counselor in the State of Washington and have a current TB test and CPR certification.
