Job Title: Peer Support Specialist - HOST SUD Program

Lifeline Connections is a community-based behavioral health organization dedicated to providing compassionate care to individuals experiencing substance use and/or mental health conditions.

We are seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join our HOST SUD Program, which aims to serve individuals living with serious substance use disorders or co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions, who are experiencing homelessness.

The ideal candidate will possess certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist and be in successful recovery for 1 or more years. They will work collaboratively with the team to provide peer counseling and support, drawing on common experiences to validate patients' experiences and provide guidance and encouragement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide peer counseling and support to patients
  • Act as a mentor to patients to promote hope and empowerment
  • Collaborate with the team to promote a team culture that recognizes and respects patients' point of view, experiences, and preferences
  • Help patients identify, understand, and combat stigma and discrimination associated with substance use and/or co-occurring disorders

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; College degree in a social science preferred
  • Possess certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist consistent with WAC 246-341
  • Current Washington State Department of Health agency affiliated credentials required prior to starting the position

Working Environment:

Working hours are spent in the community meeting with patients in homeless camps, their homes, health clinics, and community agencies.
