Job Title: Certified Peer Counselor

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a Certified Peer Counselor to join our Behavioral Health Program in Vancouver, WA.

Job Summary:

The Certified Peer Counselor provides behavioral health support, education, and resource services to individuals referred to our program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with mental health and a strong understanding of the recovery process.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide case management services to assigned consumers, including collaborating with natural supports and community partners.
  • Assist recovering persons in identifying their personal interests and goals in relation to recovery and integrating into the community.
  • Educate clinical staff and others about the recovery process and the damaging role that stigma can play in undermining recovery.
  • Assist recovering persons in recognizing their strengths and using them to achieve their goals.
  • Have an understanding of community resources and assist consumers in accessing services as needed.
  • Assure appropriate documentation of activities.
  • Participate in clinical consults and seek additional consultations as needed.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as directed.
Qualifications:
  • One year paid or volunteer experience working with mental health and graduation from the Washington Institute Peer Advocacy Training Program or equivalent.
  • Must be a Certified Peer Counselor in the State of Washington.
  • Must have and maintain a current TB test & CPR certification.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Must be a consumer of service within Washington State's mental health system.
