Position Overview:

The selected candidate will play a crucial role in the management and execution of outreach initiatives within the Department of Physics, Mathematics, and Astronomy (PMA). This position encompasses the organization of various educational and public engagement activities aimed at promoting interest in astronomy and physics.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage outreach events such as public lectures, stargazing nights, and community science initiatives.
  • Oversee scheduling, volunteer management, and event logistics, ensuring smooth execution of activities.
  • Engage with local officials for necessary permits and support for outreach events.
  • Maintain and update digital platforms, including calendars, websites, and social media channels related to outreach activities.
  • Develop new outreach programs in collaboration with faculty, students, and postdoctoral researchers, including grant proposal writing for funding opportunities.
  • Conduct research in astrophysics, including numerical simulations and data analysis, contributing to the scientific community.

Essential Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in astronomy or astrophysics, along with a minimum of five years of postdoctoral research experience and outreach coordination. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in organizing public events and collaborating with various stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with faculty on grant proposals and outreach initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the local community and previous involvement in outreach programs.
  • Strong background in astrophysical simulations and public engagement strategies.
