Job Description

Invenergy is a leading developer and operator of renewable energy projects. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee engineering activities for our HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee converter station engineering activities, including design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Review and manage grading drawings, design, and construction of HVDC infrastructure.
  • Lead soil mechanics and geotechnical investigations for HVDC infrastructure.
  • Manage project site layout and design, including roads and accesses.
  • Develop and manage auxiliary systems and interfaces for HVDC converter stations.
  • Propose and manage consultants to support Invenergy's efforts.
  • Support development of construction QA/QC and commissioning plans.
  • Review converter station design packages and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide value engineering opinions.
  • Review and create construction specifications and exhibits.
  • Assist the Permitting team with input to prepare federal, state, county, and local permits.
  • Support the Commercial and Development teams in the preparation of project sales proposals.
  • Support Construction Project Management with cost estimates and other required information.
  • Support Financing by responding to lender and independent engineer due diligence questions.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, engineering consultants, contractors, and clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering.
  • Familiarity with various state and local codes related to environmental compliance, materials management, storm water pollution plan, interfaces to permits agencies, noise control plan, etc.
  • Experience with at least three of the following: utility/power plant project construction, substation/switchyard construction and commissioning, SWPPP design/implementation in conjunction with large scale grading plans, industrial/utility project development, design and review process of structures and foundations, preparation of RFP and bidding processes to select consultants and contractors.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Skills
  • Master's degree in engineering.
  • 10+ years of utility project experience.
  • PE License.
  • Experience in the interpretation and review of geotechnical reports, and coordination with geotechnical engineering firms.
  • Experience with civil and structural building codes, civil engineering standards, and other design specifications.
  • Experience and knowledge of FEM based software and science.
  • HVDC construction and maintenance experience is a plus.
  • Experience with state fire department codes and standards for building design is a plus.
  • Any HVDC auxiliary system construction interface experience is a plus along with utility interconnection construction discussions for trench, metering, etc.
