Position Overview:

KDM is excited to offer a unique opportunity to be part of our expanding Substation business line. We seek a motivated and dynamic self-starter to elevate our operations. The ideal candidate will be a natural leader, eager to build a career and a team within our substation division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate engineering teams.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Conduct substation protection and control design, including panel arrangements and schematics.
  • Execute substation physical design, including layout plans and grounding systems.
  • Ensure quality reviews of substation design components.
  • Prepare equipment specifications and provide client support during construction.
  • Perform field inspections and maintain compliance documentation.
  • Manage project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Establish and meet critical project objectives.
  • Develop and implement design processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with project financials, risk management, and human resource issues.
  • Identify opportunities for proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with the Project Team to ensure client satisfaction and adherence to quality guidelines.
  • Manage all aspects of project communication.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include engineering tasks.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited program.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Transmission & Substation engineering/design, with a minimum of 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Ability to address a variety of project-related challenges effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Demonstrated creativity and mature judgment in problem-solving.
  • Ability to lead and manage change positively.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Skills:

Expertise in Program Management, Electric Utility, and Project Engineering. Proven experience in developing engineering departments and mentoring teams to successfully execute client projects while maintaining quality control standards and fostering excellent client relationships.
