Job Description: Construction Estimator

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of construction means and methods, as well as the ability to accurately analyze project plans and specifications.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for various construction projects, including commercial buildings, institutional facilities, and site work.
  • Analyze blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine material quantities, labor requirements, and equipment needs.
  • Research and obtain pricing information from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Develop comprehensive bid proposals that accurately reflect project costs and potential risks.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure accurate cost projections throughout the construction process.
  • Maintain detailed records of all estimates and supporting documentation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • A comprehensive understanding of construction means and methods associated with commercial and institutional building renovations and related site work.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage complex analytical tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Proficient analytical and planning abilities to develop accurate cost estimates.
  • A willingness to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to confidentiality when handling sensitive project information.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership when necessary.

Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Some walking and standing are required. You may need to lift and carry equipment (e.g., books, tools) weighing approximately 10-15 pounds.
  • The majority of work is performed indoors.
  • Repetitive motions are involved in this occupation for more than 1/3 of the time.
  • Standing periodically is required.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend is essential.
