The Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) integrates cutting-edge information system technologies, including elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cybersecurity, software architecture, software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, process enhancement, and software development. This combination enables us to deliver responsive, resilient, and high-performance software-intensive systems to our intelligence community, Department of Defense, and civilian clientele.

Position Overview

As a Space Missions Systems Engineer within the C3 Engineering and Operations Department at The Aerospace Corporation, you will focus on applying these technologies to provide operationally-oriented engineering solutions for space enterprise command, control, and communications (C3) systems, missions, and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and analytical guidance to clients, including Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM), Space Systems Command (SSC), and Space Warfighting Analysis Center (SWAC), on systems engineering, development, and integration of capabilities.
  • Ensure that system requirements are effectively implemented throughout the design process, maintaining alignment across various systems.
  • Oversee the integration of interconnected systems to ensure coherent evolution and operational functionality.
  • Develop analytic plans to understand missile warning mission requirements and refine force designs.
  • Analyze mission data flows to support missile warning and tracking operations.
  • Collaborate across space missions and programs to identify common challenges and provide enterprise-wide recommendations.
  • Build analytic teams from technical specialists to address key technical challenges through data-driven analysis.
  • Engage effectively with external partners in integrated product teams, including government and contractor members.
  • Communicate technical issues and recommendations to all levels of corporate management.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements for the Engineering Specialist - Systems Engineering role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a technical science from a recognized institution.
  • At least 8 years of experience in systems engineering or missile warning systems operations.
  • Familiarity with missile warning and defense systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Active Secret security clearance, with eligibility for Top Secret SCI and SAP/SAR.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.

In addition, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • 12 years of experience in systems engineering or missile warning systems operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership in systems engineering on previous programs.
