Position Overview
As a Space Missions Systems Engineer within the Command, Control, and Communications (C3) Engineering and Operations Department, you will focus on applying these technologies to provide operationally-focused engineering solutions for space enterprise C3 systems, missions, and processes. Your responsibilities will include delivering systems engineering support for missions and C2 system development, leading system and software test planning and execution, supporting ground system and architecture enhancements, influencing future investments in electronic warfare, space data transport, command and control, and missile warning systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising key stakeholders on technical and analytical methodologies, force design, systems engineering, and the integration of systems and capabilities.
- Validating that system requirements are effectively implemented throughout the design process.
- Overseeing the integration of interconnected systems to ensure coherent evolution and operation.
- Developing analytic plans to understand missile warning mission needs and refine force designs.
- Analyzing mission data flows to support missile warning and tracking strategic objectives.
- Facilitating modernization of ground systems and architectures for future space operations.
- Collaborating across space missions to identify common challenges and risks, providing enterprise recommendations.
- Building analytic teams from technical specialists to address critical technical inquiries through data-driven analysis.
- Engaging effectively with external partners in integrated product teams.
- Communicating technical issues and recommendations to all levels of management.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements for the Engineering Specialist - Systems Engineering role include:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a technical science from an accredited institution.
- 8 years of experience in systems engineering or missile warning systems operations.
- Familiarity with missile warning and missile defense systems.
- Proven ability to lead technical analyses and strong communication skills.
- Active Secret security clearance; eligibility for Top Secret SCI and SAP/SAR.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25%.
For the Senior Engineering Specialist – Systems Engineering position, a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience and demonstrated leadership in systems engineering is required.
Preferred Qualifications
It would be advantageous to possess:
- An advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, or a technical science.
- Certification in agile methodologies or project management.
- Experience managing geographically dispersed teams.
- Proficiency in software development using object-oriented programming languages.
- Experience in mission areas such as Space Domain Awareness, ISR, C2, SATCOM, or PNT.
- Experience with digital engineering or model-based systems engineering.
- Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI access.
