Position Overview
As a Space Missions Systems Engineer within the C3 Engineering and Operations Department at The Aerospace Corporation, you will focus on applying these technologies to provide operationally-oriented engineering solutions for space enterprise Command, Control, and Communications (C3) systems, missions, and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advisory services to clients such as Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM), Space Systems Command (SSC), and Space Warfighting Analysis Center (SWAC) regarding technical and analytical methodologies, force design, systems engineering, and the integration of systems and capabilities.
- Integrate capabilities from the Operational Test and Training Infrastructure (OTTI) Program Executive Office.
- Ensure that system requirements are effectively realized throughout the design process, aligning requirements across various systems within the System of Systems framework.
- Evaluate and provide insights on critical documentation, including requirements to design alignments, verification and validation processes, test plans, and procedures.
- Oversee the integration of interconnected systems to ensure coherent evolution and operational integrity.
- Develop analytical plans and define tasks necessary to comprehend missile warning mission requirements and refine force designs.
- Analyze mission data flows that support the closure of missile warning and tracking strategic and theater kill chains.
- Assist in modernizing ground systems and architectures for future space operations.
- Collaborate across mission and program boundaries to identify common challenges and risks, providing enterprise-level recommendations.
- Identify required expertise and assemble analytic teams from Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) specialists to tackle key technical challenges through data-driven analysis.
- Engage effectively with external partners in integrated product teams, including government, contractor, and FFRDC members.
- Communicate technical issues and recommendations effectively to all levels of corporate management.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements for the Engineering Specialist - Systems Engineering role include:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a technical science from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in systems engineering, missile warning systems operations, or the development and analysis of missile warning systems.
- Familiarity with missile warning and missile defense systems.
- Experience with SSC, STARCOM, and SWAC clients.
- Proven capability to lead technical analyses.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Active Secret security clearance; eligibility for Top Secret SCI and SAP/SAR.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.
Additionally, the minimum requirements for the Senior Engineering Specialist – Systems Engineering position include:
- 12 years of experience in systems engineering, missile warning systems operations, or the development and analysis of missile warning systems.
- Demonstrated leadership in systems engineering on previous programs.
Preferred Qualifications
It would be advantageous if you possess one or more of the following:
- Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, or a technical science from a recognized institution.
- Certification in agile methodologies, project management, or a related field.
- Experience managing geographically dispersed teams.
- Proficiency in software development using object-oriented programming languages (C++, Python, Java, etc.).
- Experience in other mission areas such as Space Domain Awareness (SDA), intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), command and control (C2), satellite communications (SATCOM), or space data transport.
- Experience with projects that involved digital engineering or model-based systems engineering.
- Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI access and/or SAP/SAR access.

The grade-based pay range for this position is $117,300 - $175,900 annually, with individual salaries determined by various factors including education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
