Position Overview:
At Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, the Clinical Practice Consultant role acts as a specialist and advisor within a designated service line or specialty area, operating at an advanced level of clinical expertise.


Key Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for providing education and professional development to nursing staff while ensuring accountability for patient care outcomes within a specific clinical population.

This role involves leading and coordinating interdisciplinary initiatives that emphasize clinical practice, consultation, education, and research, while integrating evidence-based practices.


Essential Functions:
1. **Interprofessional Collaboration:**
Fosters teamwork in patient care and provides leadership to cultivate a supportive work environment.

2. **Partnership Development:**
Collaborates with departmental leadership to establish service line priorities and builds consensus across the organization.

3. **Mentorship and Coaching:**
Guides nursing staff in clinical practice, offering constructive feedback and encouraging peer-to-peer learning.

4. **Quality Improvement:**
Identifies practice gaps through assessments and implements strategies to enhance patient care quality and safety.


Quality and Safety Functions:
Engages in quality initiatives by collaborating with the Quality team to address patient safety events and disseminate evidence-based practice changes.


Financial Oversight:
Develops project plans for practice changes, considering financial implications and resource utilization to meet departmental targets.


Professional Development:
Encourages continuous learning and supports staff in their professional growth along the Clinical Career Path.


Qualifications:
- Master's degree required; Master's of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Five years of clinical nursing experience, with three years in a specialty area.
- Current RN license and BLS certification required.
