Position Overview

The role involves providing medical expertise and oversight for the care delivered through the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. The physician is expected to demonstrate the highest level of proficiency to enhance the quality of care provided. Role Responsibilities

Essential Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited medical institution

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid state medical license
  • Current Federal Drug Enforcement Agency license
  • Board certified or Board eligible
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support or Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Privileges at all hospitals for which coverage is being provided
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Demonstrates teamwork skills that promote collaboration among multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient outcomes
  • Possesses superior problem-solving capabilities
  • Is articulate and an attentive listener
  • Addresses concerns related to the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System promptly

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees patient care across the healthcare system through Consult Orders.
  • Provides consultation services in partnership with attending or primary care providers.
  • Engages with the attending physician, nursing staff, family members, and other treatment team members as necessary to develop an appropriate patient care plan.
  • Communicates effectively with the treatment team in a timely and professional manner to deliver quality psychiatric care to patients throughout the healthcare system.
  • Adheres to best practices and other care directives. Participates in Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborates with Memorial Hermann Physicians, Risk Managers, and Case Managers to resolve clinical, administrative, or technical issues.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with MH privacy policies.
  • Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards while managing budgetary constraints, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
  • Encourages personal professional growth and development by fulfilling requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based objectives that contribute to the organization's success; serves as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
