Position Overview

The role of the Dietetic Technician involves providing essential nutritional services under the guidance of a licensed dietitian. This position is integral in delivering comprehensive support to program participants, ensuring adherence to established health policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver detailed information about nutritional programs to both potential and current participants.
  • Conduct nutritional assessments, including measurements of height, weight, hemoglobin levels, and dietary history.
  • Advise participants on suitable nutritional intake and promote adherence to dietary recommendations.
  • Determine appropriate food packages based on participants' dietary histories and nutritional evaluations.
  • Encourage breastfeeding through educational initiatives and support.
  • Develop and facilitate nutritional education programs and self-education modules under the dietitian's supervision.
  • Update informational materials and manage inventory of educational supplies.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay informed about advancements in nutrition and dietetics.
  • Distribute educational materials to community organizations to enhance awareness of nutritional programs.
  • Refer participants to community resources for additional nutritional and health support.
  • Assist in menu planning according to established nutritional guidelines.
  • Guide individuals in food selection, preparation, and meal planning tailored to their nutritional needs.
  • Manage client scheduling and maintain accurate records of client interactions.
  • May perform administrative duties within a community health setting as required.
  • Engage in breastfeeding support committees and attend relevant meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with participants who may have limited proficiency in English.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a valid registration as a Dietetic Technician with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Alternatively, a Verification Statement indicating completion of an accredited dietetics program is acceptable, with the requirement to obtain registration upon completion of the probationary period. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is also necessary.

Positions may require conversational proficiency in languages other than English.
