Licensed Nutrition Specialist

Full Time | Day Shift | Monday-Friday | 8am-5pm

**Compensation up to $32.00/hour, depending on experience**

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is in search of a Licensed Nutrition Specialist to join our team at LSS Health Center. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition evaluations.
  • Analyze dietary habits to identify health risks and nutritional deficiencies.
  • Utilize medical history, lab results, medication records, and dietary history to assess nutrition-related health issues.
  • Consider psychosocial and behavioral factors that influence food choices and physical activity.
  • Assess patient readiness to learn and potential for behavior modification.
  • Observe and interpret both verbal and nonverbal communication to enhance patient interaction.
  • Organize and interpret data related to nutritional challenges.
  • Identify when referrals to other healthcare professionals are necessary.
  • Prioritize nutrition-related issues to optimize patient health and recovery.
  • Document nutrition assessments and provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Develop actionable plans based on current evidence and best practices in nutrition.
  • Evaluate educational needs and provide tailored nutrition counseling.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up aligned with patient care objectives.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate nutrition care.
  • Implement nutrition interventions and communicate plans effectively to patients and their families.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case discussions as the nutrition authority.
  • Collect and analyze data to adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Work with food service providers to ensure smooth transitions in patient care.
  • Serve as a resource for medical staff on nutrition-related topics.
  • Maintain productivity standards and manage time effectively.
  • Keep accurate records of time spent on patient care activities.
  • Develop and deliver nutrition education programs for community outreach.
  • Engage in community initiatives as required.
  • Utilize patient satisfaction and therapy effectiveness data to enhance service delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts within the nutrition service line.
  • Assist in the formulation of nutrition-related policies and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or a related discipline is required.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist licensure must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification is necessary.
  • 1-2 years of relevant clinical and nutrition experience preferred.
  • Proficient in standard software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with community resources and services.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
