We host the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties and are the sole hospital in the area equipped with LIFE STAR helicopter services.
Our commitment is to provide and coordinate a high-quality continuum of healthcare aimed at improving community health outcomes.The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) will evaluate and offer clinical guidance to nursing staff throughout Backus Hospital during the night shift, focusing primarily on new personnel and patients with complex clinical needs.
This role includes mentoring bedside nurses and acting as a communication bridge to managers, supervisors, and clinical educators to implement educational strategies and provide constructive feedback for professional growth.
The CNL will independently address intricate patient care challenges, utilizing a comprehensive analysis of various data sources to identify alternative healthcare options and determine appropriate treatment plans.
This position also entails leading and participating in rapid response situations and codes during off-peak hours.Candidates must possess an Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
Experience Required:
A minimum of 1 year of RN experience in critical care and/or emergency department settings within the last 4 years is essential. A preference for candidates with at least 3 years of unit-specific experience and a background in charge nurse roles is noted.
Licensure and Certifications:
Current BLS Certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are mandatory.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks and effectively teach, coach, and mentor less experienced staff to enhance their confidence, knowledge, and independence.
Open communication skills, conflict resolution capabilities, and teamwork are vital. The ability to assess and manage staffing requirements based on patient volume and acuity is crucial.
