JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) serves as a clinical authority and a role model for Registered Nurses.

The CNL will provide clinical guidance and support to nursing staff throughout Backus Hospital during the night shift, focusing primarily on new personnel and patients with complex clinical needs.

In this role, you will mentor bedside nurses and act as a liaison to management, supervisors, and clinical educators to implement educational initiatives and provide constructive feedback for professional development.

The incumbent will independently address intricate patient care challenges, utilizing a variety of data sources to identify alternative healthcare options and determine appropriate treatment strategies.

This CNL will also take charge of leading rapid response teams and codes during off-shift hours.



Qualifications
Education:
Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.

BSN preferred
Experience:
A minimum of 1 year of RN experience in critical care and/or emergency department settings within the last 4 years. At least 3 years of unit-specific experience and prior charge nurse experience is preferred.

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

Current State of CT licensure as a Registered Nurse; current healthcare BLS Certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are required. Specialty certification relevant to the assigned duties is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated clinical knowledge to assess and prioritize patient flow issues is essential.

Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are required.

Ability to establish priorities and mentor less experienced staff to enhance their confidence, knowledge, and independence.

A resilient spirit and a passion for proactive engagement in patient care are crucial.

Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to foster teamwork are necessary.

Capability to manage staffing needs in relation to patient volume and acuity, along with addressing and resolving complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
