As a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Backus Hospital, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of critically ill newborns and their families. Our NICU is a state-of-the-art facility that provides comprehensive care to premature and critically ill infants.
Responsibilities- Assess and identify patient problems/needs, establishing a plan of care and implementing and evaluating care provided to patients.
- Demonstrate clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and advancements in neonatal care.
- Graduate of a school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
- Two (2) or more years experience in this specific clinical area preferred.
- Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 60 days of hire.
- Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
- Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC - NIC or CCRN) preferred.
