Position Overview

The Controls Engineer will report directly to the Director of Maintenance & Engineering. The primary focus will be on evaluating plant operations to enhance control systems and support production assets. Responsibilities include the design, development, programming, testing, and troubleshooting of Aseptic Filling and Process Lines, as well as material handling systems.

As a vital member of the controls engineering team, you will be tasked with improving functionality and safety within Aseptic manufacturing processes. You will also serve as a key resource for electrical controls development and troubleshooting of production equipment, while collaborating with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to meet production demands.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for various machinery, including safety controllers, PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control systems, and industrial networks.
  • Adhere to plant electrical control standards in all work performed.
  • Engage in the Change Management Process to enhance company initiatives.
  • Plan and oversee upgrades and maintenance of Aseptic Filling and Process Lines.
  • Deliver training on the operation and maintenance of Aseptic systems.
  • Participate in after-hours support on a rotating schedule.

Qualifications:

  • An Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical experience is required.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in technical or operational roles.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with operations and technical teams to achieve project goals.
  • Effective communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with Technical Service Providers and/or Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM).
  • Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Continuous self-development is encouraged.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC and HMI systems.
  • Background in installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of processing and packaging equipment.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive work environment that respects diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • In-depth knowledge of Tetra Pak and/or Stork Aseptic filling equipment.
  • Familiarity with the electrical and mechanical optimization of Food Processing and Packaging systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Aseptic Processing and Packaging Systems.
  • Experience with Beckhoff Automation PLC and HMI systems.
  • Knowledge of robotics (e.g., Fanuc).
  • Experience in motion control and safety hardware.
  • Familiarity with vision inspection systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
  • Knowledge of NFPA70, 70E, and 78 standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software.
  • Understanding of FDA regulations and compliance.
