Agency Overview

The U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking qualified candidates who meet the following criteria: 1. U.S. Citizens 2. CTAP/ICTAP Eligible individuals.

Position Responsibilities

As a GS-05 level employee, your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a primary contact for the National Park Service (NPS), providing information to visitors and detailing recreational options available.
  • Ensuring accurate collection and documentation of fees in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Utilizing a cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system to process transactions efficiently.
  • Managing inventory levels and restocking supplies as necessary, while assisting with procurement processes.
  • Supporting the auditing of fee collection systems and related components.
  • Generating financial reports and bank deposits, while addressing any discrepancies that arise.

Position Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • A background investigation with favorable results is required.
  • Compliance with the Selective Service Registration Act is necessary for male candidates.
  • Completion of online assessments may be required.
  • Participation in the Direct Deposit Electronic Funds Transfer Program is expected.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license may be necessary.
  • Adherence to uniform standards is required, with an allowance provided.
  • Availability for on-call duties, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime may be necessary.
  • Ability to handle, collect, and manage monetary transactions is essential.
  • New employees may need to complete a probationary period.
  • Travel away from home may be a requirement.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements: The role necessitates standing, walking, bending, and lifting. There may be mental stress and physical fatigue associated with the responsibilities.

Work Environment: Employees will work in diverse outdoor settings, experiencing various weather conditions and peak visitation times.

All qualifications must be fulfilled by the application closing date unless specified otherwise.

To qualify for the GS-05 level, candidates must possess specialized experience or education beyond high school.
