Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Per Diem Recreation Therapist is to deliver therapeutic recreation services and conduct assessments as directed by a physician. This role is a vital component of a multidisciplinary team focused on the wellness and recovery of patients.
Qualifications
Required:
- National Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or California Recreation Therapist Certificate (RTC).
- HeartSaver AED certification and Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on physician's orders.
- Create and manage patient recreational activity programs.
- Ensure timely documentation of services provided.
- Meet departmental productivity standards.
- Monitor environmental conditions within the therapy services area.
Additional Duties
- Assist in formulating policies and procedures, as well as budget management.
- Support the orientation of new staff members.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through continuing education and participation in professional organizations.
- Contribute to the employee evaluation process through peer reviews as requested.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, the community, and external organizations.
Essential Skills
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care tailored to the specific needs of the patient population served. This includes understanding growth and development across various cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age-specific needs. Effectively communicate and provide care for patients and their families as outlined in the Plan for Provision of Care.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $25.28 - $37.92.
